Sponsorship

Solano County 4-H youth and the Army National Guard have partnered to develop the Operation 4-HEROES project.  For this project, we plan to develop a park and recreational space in the Army National Guard Armory in Fairfield.  The project will be called the Lawson Fallen Soldier Memorial Park.  It will be dedicated to those that have served our country, and their families.  The plans call for spaces suitable for ceremonies, reflection, exercise, barbeques and a community garden.

To date, we have gained major support in the areas of surveying (Peter Lynch) and plan design (Peter Larimer, MTW Architectural Design).  We have also received three grants which have funded the construction of six large redwood planter boxes for the garden and the decorative masonry for the memorial grotto.  And a local business donated $5,000.  We have received numerous smaller donations in the form of materials, labor and funds.  A list of sponsors to date can be found at the link below.

Construction began in May 2012 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony held on May 4, 2012.  Over the summer we experienced some delays.  But we are back on track to complete the underground work this October.  This will allow us to work on above ground elements over the winter and complete the project during the summer of 2013. We are still looking for sponsors from local businesses to help with this local project to honor our local heroes.  Move to the Drawings and Materials list page for information on the project and items we still need. Sponsor packages are as follows:
