How to Join a Countywide Project-

1) If you have NOT completed enrollment- add the “Unit” (club) that is offering the project and then select and add the project

 

2) If you HAVE completed enrollment send an email to mtryan@ucanr.edu to request the addition of the project.

 

County Wide Ceramics-   This fun project will cover the basics of working with clay and hand-building ceramics projects without a pottery wheel.  We have a fully functioning kiln and can make cups, plates, pots, fairy houses, Christmas ornaments and whatever else you can dream up.   Offered thru Elmira 4H.

 

County Wide Recordkeeping- Want to unlock the more advanced awards in 4H?  New to 4H?  Confused about the new Achievement Program and the transition away from Record Books?  Want to complete the older style Record Book and earn your stars?  Join this Project and help make Record-keeping painless.  Offered thru Elmira 4H.

 

Countywide Market Lamb- Learn Lamb showmanship and husbandry skills while raising a Market lamb to show and sell at Dixon May Fair or Solano County Fair.  Offered thru Elmira 4H.

 

Countywide Cavies- Primary members: Learn to raise a healthy pet. Have fun with bath time, purr time, and costume time. Cavies 9 & above: Understand why Guinea Pigs can make a great first pet. Be amazed at the different breeds and what you can do with them.  Offered thru Sherwood Forrest

 

Countywide Crochet- : Learn to use a hooked needle to create fabric by interlocking loops of yarn or thread. Create a wide variety of items such as blankets, scarves, hats, and even intricate lacework. Offered thru Sherwood Forrest

 

Countywide Loom Knitting- Learn about different types of looms used for knitting and how to use a loom to knit. You can create wall hangings, hats, scarfs, and afghans by loom knitting. Offered through Sherwood Forest

 

Countywide Horses- Learn to appreciate riding as a recreation and promote love and humane treatment of animals.  Learn horsemanship skills and understand equestrian breeding, training, and raising.  Acquire safety skills to prevent injury to persons and animals. Offered through Maine Prairie

 

Countywide Shooting Sports- Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun- Three different projects in which youth learn the skills and discipline of shooting sports. Participants learn about the safe handling of firearms on the shooting range.  Offered thru Pleasant’s Valley.

 

Countywide Pygmy Goats- Our county wide Pygmy goat project will cover basic goat care, body parts and digestive system, and end with showmanship. You do not have to own a goat to join the project.  Offered thru Pleasants Valley 4H.

 

Countywide Poultry (Primary and Regular)- Learn types of fowl, how to select quality birds, how to house, feed and provide general care for poultry. Poultry 9 & above: Learn knowledge and skills and experience to participate in poultry showing. Offered thru Sherwood Forrest.

 

Countywide Canine Obedience- The dog obedience project will go over Showmanship, training, health, diseases, and much more. In the spring we’ll begin preparing for Dixon May Fair Showmanship and Obedience Show. The meetings on Monday afternoons at Centennial Park in Vacaville.  The 1st meeting will be Monday Sept 25th at 4:15.
