Market Livestock Tagging
January 7 & March 11
All youth who intend to exhibit market steers, market sheep and market goats at the Dixon May Fair May 11-14 must bring their animals for ear tagging and pre-weigh-ins.
Market steer tagging will be held Saturday, January 7th from 9 AM to 11 AM.
Solano County Fair will also be tagging steers at that time.
Market sheep and market goats will be tagged on Saturday, March 11 between 9 AM and 11 AM.
Exhibitors will need to submit entry forms and pay fees the day of tagging.
Youth intending to exhibit market swine must have their swine tagged, entry form and fees in by March 10, 2017.  Advisors, leaders and parents of swine exhibitors need to go to the Fair office at 655 South First Street in Dixon to pick up ear tags from February 24 to March 8, 2017.
Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 5 PM
New this year - small market animal owners (rabbit, chicken, quail & turkey) must submit an entry form that includes the birth date and leg band/tattoo numbers; along with entry fees, a bill of sale and photo of the animal(s) to the fair office by April 11th.
Market classes are only open to residents of Solano County or members of a Solano County 4-H Club, FFA Chapter or Recognized Grange. Independent Juniors, those youth not enrolled in a 4-H, FFA or Grange organization, must be a resident of Solano County and attend a Solano County School.
If an exhibitor is enrolled in an out-of-county (not Solano County) 4-H/FFA and /or Grange, regardless of project, then their eligibility lies in the county in which the 4-H/FFA and/or Grange is registered and therefore the exhibitor is not eligible to exhibit a market animal at the Dixon May Fair as an independent, 4-H/FFA and/or Grange member.
Independent juniors are encouraged to contact the fair, prior to December 16th, to assure they are eligible to exhibit a market animal at the Dixon May Fair.
Contact the Fair office at (707) 678-5529 with any questions.
