Chinese Youth Exchange 2008
Young visitors from Ji’an City China experienced two weeks of “living American” this past summer as guests of 4-H host families in the communities of Vallejo, Fairfield, and Vacaville. This cross cultural exchange proved to be the beginning of lasting relationships made possible by the technology available that bridges thousands of miles and allows kitchen table chats seen via webcams on the computer. National Issues Forums
Nif logo without wording blue
For more than 25 years, National Issue Forums (NIF) has been bringing people together to reason and talk – to deliberate about common problems. Indeed, democracy requires an ongoing deliberative public dialogue. The NIF is a nonpartisan, nationwide network of locally organized and trained neutral moderators that offer citizens the opportunity to join together to deliberate, to make choices with others about the ways to approach difficult issues and to work toward creating reasoned public judgment. The California Network offers forums on an on-going basis ranging from small or large group gatherings similar to town hall meetings, to study circles held in public places or in people’s homes. They also provide organized workshops to help people develop understanding and skills for the purpose of convening and moderating National Issues Forums. Learn more about upcoming California Network NIF events and register for Forums and Workshops on this site.
